The History

Phil and Carole were married in 1985 after a chance meeting at a family wedding, which led to two lost people finding their true Soul mates.

Nine weeks after the wedding Phil was hit by a high speed car and suffered multiple injuries to his legs and spine, which took many years to learn how to walk again. It was during these years that Carole said that he should learn to ride a horse and use the horse's legs instead of his own? Much to every ones surprise, Phil took to riding as if it was a second nature to him. He and his 'Dales Pony' Called Bob, over the next few years travelled many hundreds of miles, together.

Carole had ridden horses, since her childhood, so it was no surprise when, a one horse household became two then three and so on. "We were breeding horses for our Endurance riding" We had seen several people on the rides with Arabian Horses, these horses were just unbeatable! "We always came in after a long ride, an hour or so behind the Arabian horse"?

We needed to know more about these, supreme, graceful and beautiful horses. We were introduced to the owners of High Tor Stud, in Northern England. We were invited to take a good look around the yard and after a short time, Ian Woodward brought out some of their mares with their foals. It was hard to see where the foals touched the ground? They just floated. We were hooked! That day we bought a champion mare, Nyvada and never looked back, from that day onwards.

We had read a lot about the Arabian horse and knew that Nazeer, was one of the most important sires in the modern evolution of the Arab, this was our starting point when going through each pedigree.

Set backs come along with frightening speed sometimes and have, catastrophic effects on our lives. During the summer of 2000, Carole contracted meningitis and within a matter of hours was admitted into the intensive care unit at Antrim hospital. "Our World fell Apart" Carole survived and is now back to full health and now looking forward to start back riding our horses again.

2002, brought another shock to us, "We lost a two year old, straight Egyptian filly, called Gazaalah, pictured with Carole to the right.. She was diagnosed as having a brain tumour. "It was heart breaking to see her trying to hard to keep her dignity against all odds". There is a young Weeping Willow tree, planted in our garden, for this beautiful horse who never had a chance to shine.

We have decided that there will always be losses and problems, "The art is to fight back and to be thankful for the gift of that our horses have given to us, Which, is pure Love.

Northern Lights Arabians now have brought together and bred some of the finest horses in Europe.

The quality of the foals that we breed is stunning! This is because we have always used the Worlds finest stallions on our multi-championship winning mares.
